Introducing the Pique Sustainability Fund

July 18, 2025

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Pique Sustainability Fund—a new way to help sustain the Pique festival series and make it more accessible for everyone.

Pique is committed to admission equity, and your contributions make a real difference. At the most recent edition of the festival:

  • 31% of attendees received a subsidized ticket, making it possible for hundreds to attend who otherwise might not have been able to.

  • $12,120 in total subsidies were provided, with the average subsidized ticket receiving 87% coverage, or about $35 each.

  • Those who could afford to give more did:

    • 61% paid $45

    • 6% paid $60

    • 3% paid $75

    • Altogether, 42% of subsidies were covered by ticket buyers paying $60–$75, while 58% were funded by Debaser.

This model ensures that while some pay what they can, artists and cultural workers still receive fair pay and healthy working conditions.

Here’s what it means to those impacted:

"As a young person without a steady income, I'm grateful there's an incredible event like Pique that I'm able to enjoy with what money I have... it makes me really happy to see events that don't put a massive paywall to stop the admiration and consumption of art."

"As a newcomer, I often felt like I was on the outside looking in... But this initiative really made me feel seen, included, and inspired at times when I needed it most."

"I value that this program considers the many ways systemic oppression impacts marginalized communities... it allows people to participate and give what they can without feeling excluded from the arts."

"Making art accessible at any price range is such a beautiful thing and Pique is my favourite event in Ottawa."

Your support of the Pique Sustainability Fund helps ensure this model can thrive. Donate today and join us in creating a more inclusive, resilient, and equitable future for the arts.
