Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for volunteers to support ongoing programs and events, such as our quarterly event series Pique.

Join the team to learn more about behind-the-scenes event production, meet new people, and contribute to the presentation of groundbreaking and innovative works of art!

Volunteers for Pique will get a free meal and access to the event when they are not volunteering.

Roles include:

✦ Box office - selling and checking tickets, admitting audience members, facilitating contact tracing info collection

✦ Greeter / Wayfinder - acting as a representative of the event, learning where and when things are happening at the event and helping attendees find their way (the Arts Court building can be a maze!), ensuring attendees do not go in spaces that are off-limits

✦ Art team - supporting artists in creating and installing their works, taking part in performances and presentations in various ways

✦ Care ambassador - helping to uphold our safety policy, being present and checking in on people if they appear to not be ok, understanding Debaser's procedures for addressing issues that may arise, being equipped with care supplies to provide to attendees **Training will be provided, however experience in bystander intervention, naloxone administration, intervention and/or de-escalation within an anti-opressive framework is a strong asset

✦ Production assistant - supporting the technical team with setting up equipment and managing the stage/space

SAFETY

Volunteers will be required to wear a mask during their shift, and follow all provincial public health guidelines with respect to the transmission of COVID-19. PPE, including a face mask, hand sanitizer, and alcohol wipes, will be available on site.

Volunteers are expected to act with respect for one another. Violence, aggression, oppressive behaviour or language, or bullying will not be tolerated. If you are currently implicated in an accountability process, please ensure you are respecting the space and well-being of those your actions have affected before joining this space. If staff and/or Board are made aware of any behaviour that violates our safety policy, the person(s) perpetuating this behaviour will be asked to leave immediately. We reserve the right to intervene and/or remove ANY person(s) in the space who are creating or contributing to an unsafe environment.
